Have you aerated your lawn?

lawn aeration

Treating your lawn with nutrients, watering it properly and cutting it at the right time is part of good lawn care BUT aeration is a key step in great lawn care.

Aeration allows air, water and nutrients to more readily reach the root zone by loosening compacted soil and opening up the thatch layer.  It also stimulates new growth, improves drainage, provides a better environment for seeding and increases the effectiveness of applied fertilizers and control products.

When your lawn is aerated you will see plugs on your lawn that will break down gradually over a period of 2-3 weeks. This natural return to the soil will help hold the thatch to a desirable level.  It’s recommended that the cores are not raked up but left to break down in their own natural time.

Aerating your lawn will improve the health and vigour of your lawn!

If you would like a recommendation on who can do this for you, give us a call.  We have a lawn treatment company that we use and they do a great job for us.  We are happy to recommend them.
